5 week course

In this 5-week class we will learn all the fundamentals of soldering and sawing sterling silver and base metals (brass and copper). We will begin with the basics of working with metal, getting you ready to dive right into working with the jewelers saw and the multiple torches we will use. We will go over the must-dos and don'ts, metal prep and the correct steps for soldering success. As well as, the fundamentals and good use practices of the jewelers saw. We will work with the jewelers saw to create depth and imagery to metal pieces that will be soldered. We will use a variety of torches, soldering surfaces, types of solder, saw blades, and metal combinations. We will round the course out with the final class including bezel setting cabochon stones and simple prong setting (time permitting). You can add and build on pieces each week or create new ones with each new technique learned.

Each person will complete many finished pieces.

All materials are included in the fee except the stones used which you can purchase as needed.

Open to adults over 18. 

Class minimum is 3, maximum is 4.

Wear clothing that can get dirty and/or ripped. Please no tops with loose or flowy sleeves, and no dangly pieces on clothing or jewelry. Hair should be out of your face, and please wear closed-toed shoes.
