Our Story

Founder and Head Creatrix, Elaan Greenfield, began making jewelry in 2007 and what was once a hobby - her first studio was a $15 desk from a thrift shop - is now a full-time endeavor and then some. She has been successfully designing and making jewelry, selling her wares online, locally, and at craft and trade shows throughout New York and Las Vegas. She had been teaching students the art of metalsmithing at her studio for a few years and it didn’t take long for Elaan to realize she wanted to share her love of metal arts with more people in the community, and thus, The Metal Smithery was born. The Metal Smithery opened in 2018. The Dear Elaan/Elaan Greenfield Designs studio is in the adjoining studio to The Metal Smithery.

The Metal Smithery is the only metal arts school in the region and one of only a small handful in all of New York. Current and future metalsmiths have access to all of the tools needed to make their own metal pieces; whether it be a piece of jewelry or a sculpture, the possibilities are endless! The Metal Smithery offers a variety of classes for beginners and beyond, including workshops from guest instructors, and studio memberships for those that want more time on their own in the studio. Classes for youth, private parties, and private lessons are also available.
